Alicia Cohen, a familial exploitation survivor and compassionate educator specializing in early identification and behavioral intervention of traumatized children identifies the key behavioral indicators of familial exploitation and how to construct intervention and prevention strategies for the community.

  1. Describe indicators and aspects of familial trafficking, including dysfunctional household dynamics, and identify key behavioral indicators.
  2. Construct intervention and prevention strategies for the community.

Practice Change: How do you sleep at night? Do you have nightmares? Do you take medication that makes you sleepy? Do you like being alone with Dad? How about mom? Understand that children may respond with shrugs and other nonconcrete communications.

Alicia Cohen is a familial exploitation survivor and compassionate educator specializing in early identification and behavioral intervention of traumatized children.  She works as an educational diagnostician for birth to three transition, holds a Master’s in Special Education from Wilmington University and is pursuing an Ed.S. in School Psychology from Rowan University.  In 2019, she established SAFE (Survivors of Familial Exploitation) to close the gap in available research and develop survivor-informed resources for direct service providers.
